Are Boston Rob & Amber Still Together? All About Their ‘Survivor’ Romance

Rob Mariano, aka “Boston Rob,” is back causing trouble on our screens in The Traitors but longtime fans might be wondering about his personal life after falling in love with him and wife Amber Mariano on Survivor.

Rob debuted on Survivor: Marquesas in 2002 and went on to make a name for himself with a deadly reality competition streak on Survivor: All-Stars, The Amazing Race 7, The Amazing Race: All-Stars, Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, Deal or No Deal Island, and so on. Now, he’s hoping to continue that streak on season 3 of The Traitors.

But while Mariano’s strategic mind and winning gameplay were known by viewers and contestants alike, there’s another side to him that contestants might not know about. After all, when he’s not in a reality show playing to win, he’s most importantly a husband and a dad to his four girls.

In fact, Mariano first connected with his wife, Amber Brkich, during Survivor: All-Stars in 2004. The pair, who had both competed in their individual seasons before, had quite an undeniable bond.

Are Boston Rob and Amber Still Together?

Yes, Rob and Amber are not only still together, but are in love as ever today.

“There’s a lot of lessons from these reality shows that are applicable in relationships, and that’s the biggest [lesson] probably,” Rob told in May People in 2024. “There’s constantly going to be things that are coming up, and it feels like people that are able to adapt and kind of go on the fly are the ones who ultimately end up doing the best. That’s Amber and I for sure.”

This year, the pair will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. What a milestone!

When Did Rob and Amber First Meet?

While they got to know each other better on All-Stars, they first met at Survivor-related events in the years prior. “I couldn’t stand her,” Rob, who used to work as a construction worker, told People in 2004. “I thought she was a snob. Beautiful, but a snob.”

Quickly into All-Stars, however, Brkich proved she’s much more than a pretty face. They became allies lightning fast, and sparks started flying.

“We only kissed twice on air,” Amber told the outlet of their on-air romance. “The first time when we got a toothbrush and the second time when there were candy mints.”

When Did Rob Propose?

Mariano sealed the deal and popped the question to Amber during the season finale of All-Stars on May 9, 2004.

“Regardless of what happens here tonight with the vote, I feel like I already won,” he told Jeff Probst in his proposal. “I have the most special girl in the entire world sitting here right next to me.”

“Amber, we came a long way in this crazy game, I’ve seen you at your highest high and your lowest low and between it all, we worked together as a team to accomplish so much,” he told her. “You’re the most amazing person I’ve ever met in my entire life and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” Rob then got down on one knee and proposed.

“All of a sudden Rob turned towards me, and it hit me,” Amber said of the moment. “I was shocked.”

To Amber, who ended up winning the $1 million prize, the timing was everything. “The fact that Rob proposed before he knew who won just seals it right there for me,” she said. “This is for real.”

When Did Rob & Amber Get Married?

Rob and Amber tied the knot on April 16, 2005, at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

“I saw Amber coming down the aisle and I was just like, ‘Wow,’” Rob said of his bride during their two-hour TV special, Rob & Amber: Get Married. “My girl’s beautiful but today she was extra beautiful.”

Do Rob & Amber Have Kids?

Rob and Amber knew they wanted to be parents, but took their time before taking the next step. They became parents four years into their marriage, to daughter Lucia, born in July 2009.

“Lucia is a great eater and sleeps a lot, however, she tends to be a bit of a night owl like her daddy at times,” new dad Rob told People at the time. “She is a perfect baby and we could not have asked for anything more. We are over the moon with happiness at her arrival!”

Since then, they’ve always welcomed daughters Carina, born in December 2010, Isabetta, born in May 2012, and Adelina, born in June 2014.

On Instagram, Rob shares snippets of his dad life. In October, for instance, he shared he was doing daddy-daughter dates with each of his girls.

“Decided for #FallBreak I would take each of my girls out on a ‘Date’ separately (we don’t get lots of one one-on-one time) and let them choose whatever they wanted to do or let me Surprise them!” he shared on Instagram. How adorable is that?
